Vintage 1900s to 1920s enamel mesh bag with gold metal frame by Mandalian
Mfg Co. The owner of Mandalian Mfg. Co. was an Armenian man named Sahatiel Garabed Mandalian. Mandalian was a prolific inventor with many patented designs registered to him. He emigrated from Turkey to the United States of America in 1898. In 1915 Mandalian incorporated his business, which was now known as the Mandalian Mfg. Co. This firm was one of the major manufacturers of mesh purses.

Mandalian made the most beautiful mesh bags of all. This one is no exception.

The body of the bag is a unique design in orange, root beer brown, black and tan. It has linked fringe and the frame is a gold metal, possibly brass. The bag closes with a gold ball clasp.

CONDITION:

The bag is in remarkable condition. The fringe is all intact. The clasp works perfectly. The one issue I see is some slight wearing of the gold under the clasp. Inside, the “M” in Mandalian seems to have worn off. I am rating this as being in EXCELLENT MINUS CONDITION.

MEASUREMENTS:

Top of clasp to bottom of bag: 7”

Width: Just short of 5”

Chain height: 6.5”
