This is a stylish Edwardian or early 1920s picture hat by May Smith.
The brim is made out of horsehair and the crown has alternating swirls of brown and light taupe grosgrain.
There is a celluloid and rhinestone hat pin on the front of the crown.
The hat is large and roomy. I
measure a 22.5 to 23” circumference around the crown.
The hat has a slightly darker spot on the edge of horsehair brim. On the inside, it looks like a wire that was perhaps popping out was sewn shut. Both issues are slight. The brown area on the brim is minor. The fabric on the inside of the crown is in excellent condition.
I am rating this as being in VERY GOOD CONDITION!
