The 1940s black fedora style fascinator is made of black felt and the brim is lined with mink. There is an elastic strap to help keep the hat in place. In addition, the crown is lined with a black grosgrain ribbon and a bow in the center.
The label of the hat says “Gage Brothers and Co, Chicago and New York.” From the Gage Bros website:
“Gage Brothers & Co., have, since 1856, conducted continuously in Chicago a millinery business, which has grown until, at the present time (1913), in addition to our twelve-story building in Chicago, and our New York headquarters, we occupy two factories which manufacture "Gage" products exclusively.”
I have seen their hats at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The size is a 22” circumference but I think it can be worn by a smaller head due to the elastic band.
There are no chews, holes, fading, or any other flaws. I am rating this as being in excellent condition.
