Vintage 1920s Mesh Purse by Mandalian

This small purse is made of metal mesh, with a gold-tone frame and a chain handle. The mesh is enameled with a geometric pattern in shades of turquoise, dark green,
and gold. It is a flat mesh, which was patented by Sahatiel Mandalian, an Armenian designer who fashioned these bags to resemble Turkish rugs.

The ornate gold metal frame has a decorative kiss lock closure and is embossed with floral motifs.

The bottom of the purse is adorned with chain fringe.

The purse is small, typical of evening bags from the 1920s. It has a rectangular shape with a slightly curved bottom, and the fringe adds length to the overall design.

Condition:

The bag is in very good condition which is amazing for these mesh purses. The linked handle has lost some of the gold overlay and now appears more of a bright silver/gold color. The frame is a strong gold color but the kiss lock button is a little more silver.

The bottom fringe is a darker brass color. It has been cleaned so that color might be the original tone. the fringe is all
intact and the mesh is all attached to the frame.
